As the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) unfolds in 2021, cash prizes, certificates, and the chance to represent their regions to the 2022 National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) awaits the new winners.
The 2021 RICE recognizes the indispensability of Filipino inventors, innovators, and researchers for their contribution to economic development through a form of friendly competition.
RICE gives due recognition to local inventors, innovators, and researchers
Organized by the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI), it searches for the next roster of individuals to be included in the best and the brightest local trailblazers in the country.
With five categories to choose from invention, utility model, industrial design, creative research, and student creative research, the participants may have the chance to win as much as Php 50,000.00 cash prize and avail of DOST-TAPI’s programs of assistance.
“We hope that this year’s RICE, although to be celebrated virtually, shows our commitment in realizing the potentials of Filipino inventors as we provide the necessary assistance they would need until their inventions are commercialized,” said Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena, Officer-in-Charge of DOST-TAPI.

Aside from the major cash prizes, the finalists may also have the chance to win the best video presentation with a cash prize of Php 15,000.00, Php 10,000.00, and Php 5,000.00 for the first, second, and third places, respectively, for each category per region.
In close collaboration with the DOST Regional Offices, the 2021 RICE will be conducted all throughout the year with the following schedules and deadline of submission of entries:
