The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) will hold the online 2021 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) call for entries on 14 April 2021 at 9AM via the DOST-TAPI Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DOST.TAPI/.
RICE is a way of recognizing the contributions of inventions and research in national development through a form of a friendly competition with humble prizes to be won and a chance to represent their regions to the national contest in 2022.
RICE gives due recognition to local inventors, innovators, and researchers
Four major topics will be presented in the virtual call for entries.
First, the 2021 RICE rules and guidelines will be presented as approved by the Screening Committee of the Republic Act 7459 or the Inventors and Invention Incentive Acts of the Philippines.
Second, the five categories where inventors and researchers can join in will be differentiated.
Third, the mechanics of submitting the entries including the RICE schedules and deadlines of the submission for entries unique for each region will be discussed.
And finally, the video presentation criteria for the final round will be introduced.
“We hope that with our usual cooperation and partnership that we disseminate this good cause in acknowledging our noble inventors, innovators, technology generators, and researchers in the country,” said Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena, Officer-in-Charge of DOST-TAPI.
In close collaboration with the DOST Regional Offices, the 2021 RICE will be conducted all throughout the year with the following schedule of activities:
