As one of the premier programs of the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI), the Venture Financing Program was offered among overseas Filipinos (OF) on 13 June 2021 through a webinar.
Dubbed as “AgriNegosyo for OFs: Everything You Need to Know about Going Into Agribusiness,” the webinar was organized by the Agricultural Attache of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Tokyo to provide options among OFs who plan to return to the country.

The webinar featured programs by different government agencies, such as the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority including DOST-TAPI.
Offered to OFs who are interested in technopreneurship, the Venture Financing Program accelerates the commercialization of technologies among startups and micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs (MSME) through the provision of financial and technical assistance.
One of the program’s offerings is assistance to acquire technologies, such as machines, to improve the operations and increase the production capability of the business.
Moreover, a special window of the program assists the acquisition of environmentally-sound technologies in compliance with the requirements set by the regulating body for a cleaner and greener production.
Based on eligibility, MSME can also be given assistance to support fees and international certifications as a requirement to penetrate local or international markets, to materialize the purchase orders required by their clients, and to manufacture technologies and products which combat against the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Once we receive your request in the form of a proposal, we shall evaluate the proposal thoroughly. If approved, we shall conduct a memorandum of agreement and the financial assistance requested shall be released,” said Jund Rian A. Doringo, Senior Science Research Specialist, during the webinar.
Participated by over 700 OFs in and out of Japan, the participants were given alternative viable sources of livelihood, opportunities to expand capital, generate employment, and elevate rural growth and development.
