To showcase the soon-to-be completed special projects, the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) will conduct a virtual week-long celebration on 26-30 July 2021.
Dubbed as “Week-long Accomplishment and Culminating Activity of Special Projects” or WACAS, the event will feature the notable highlights of the DOST 500 Project and the Technology Transfer Day Project implemented by the Institute.
#SPICEStoDOSTLabS is one of the activities of the Technology Transfer Day Project, which promotes the laboratories and services of DOST Research Development Institutes
The “Support to the Commercialization of 500 DOST-Generated Technologies and Strengthening the Country’s Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Portfolios” or DOST 500 assisted the commercialization of technologies through the creation of IP database, IP portfolios, valuations, and freedom to operate reports.
Also, the project assisted in the creation of the Fairness Opinion Board, and issuance of Fairness Opinion Report and Written Recommendation, which are crucial components of technology transfer.
Meanwhile, the Technology Transfer Day showcased the Department’s portfolio of market-ready technologies among possible adopters and investors.
“We are proud of the Institute’s contribution in creating an innovative ecosystem among inventors and technopreneurs through the propagation of a strong IP culture simultaneous with technology transfer initiatives,” said Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena, Officer-in-Charge of DOST-TAPI.
The week-long activity starts with knowledge sharing webinars on IP rights, Freedom-to-Operate, IP valuation, and valuation methods on 26 July 2021.
A dedicated day for the media will be organized through the virtual presser in the morning while a publications launching of the print materials developed through the special projects will be revealed in the afternoon of 27 July 2021.
On 28 July 2021, the beneficiaries of the special projects take center stage as they share their commercialization journeys through the help of the Institute.
The Science Summit for the Youth will be conducted on 29 July 2021 to talk about invention and technology development, IP protection, and technology commercialization.
Finally, a culminating day will be held on 30 July 2021 to summarize the accomplishment and impact of the special projects and reveal the winner of Gawad Kintal: Best Commercialization Story.
“It is the first time for the Institute to celebrate such a crucial event because we would want to disseminate not only the importance of our work in the innovation system but also our programs to inventors and researchers as a beginning toward their successful commercialization journey,” added Atty. Decena.
